The Secret to a Beautiful Hamptons Table This Season

Preparing the Garden Cake

There’s a little secret to hosting beautifully in the Hamptons that people don’t always talk about: the most memorable tables usually aren’t the most expensive ones, they’re the ones that make people feel something.

This Mother’s Day, we designed a large white floral cake for an outdoor gathering, and almost immediately it became one of those pieces people naturally gathered around throughout the afternoon. Guests posed in front of it for photos, stopped to admire the flowers, and kept coming back to look at the details. Because the cake sat lower toward the front of the table, it naturally became the backdrop of so many photos throughout the event.

One of the hosting details we’ve been loving lately is incorporating the dessert directly into the styling of the table instead of treating it separately. A statement cake instantly creates a focal point and gives guests something interactive to gather around. Inside, we included different flavors; red velvet, chocolate, and vanilla with blueberries, allowing everyone to choose their favorite slice. It’s such a simple detail, but it makes gatherings feel thoughtful, abundant, and elevated without trying too hard.

We finished the cake with cream cheese frosting and seasonal edible flowers in soft purple tones to match the outdoor garden setting. One of our favorite parts of the process is carefully walking through the garden and hand-selecting the blooms chosen for each design. We grow and source flowers specifically for culinary and hosting experiences, using thoughtful growing practices without chemicals or sprays so they can safely be used for cakes, cocktails, grazing tables, and gatherings.

Honestly, one of the best parts of the afternoon was watching everyone try the different edible flower varieties and describe the flavors to each other. Some were citrusy, some slightly herbal, others soft and floral. Dessert time instantly became an experience and conversation starter on its own. That’s really the direction hosting seems to be moving toward this season in the Hamptons: interactive, beautiful, experience-driven gatherings filled with details people actually remember.
